Herman Mashaba calls his ‘EFF’ outfit ‘incredible’
The Joburg mayor seemed to see the funny side of it.

A photoshopped image of the DA’s Johannesburg mayor, Herman Mashaba, in an EFF beret saw him indirectly complimenting the creator’s technological skills on Thursday.
An ANC supporter sent him the photo playfully, asking him if it was true that Mashaba had crossed over to the red berets.
Mashaba merely replied that it was “incredible what technology can do today”.

The beret in the photo does seem to match the shape of the mayor’s head pretty closely, and would convince most casual observers.
Mashaba was vehemently opposed by the EFF as the DA’s candidate for mayor after no party won a majority in the Johannesburg metro in 2016’s local government elections.
They originally accused Mashaba of being “anti-poor”. However, in the years since, the party has also praised him for being consultative.
