Motorists planning on travelling between Middelburg and Hendrina in Mpumalanga are warned to make use of alternative roads.
This after reports were received that the Klein Olifants River is flooding a low-water bridge on the N11, making it impossible for vehicles to cross, reports Middelburg Observer.
It is currently unclear what the status of the Hendrina-Arnot road is.
Reports of a car that has been flushed away near Breyten were confirmed by a trusted source, who said that the driver of the car was washed ashore and was tended to by paramedics.
Motorists are warned not to try and cross overflowing low-water bridges, and to be wary of floods that might occur at any time.
