One person killed in Centurion car crash

The man was trapped in his vehicle and still alive when paramedics arrived on the scene.

A man, believed to be in his late 20s, was killed when two cars collided on the R55 on Ellman Street in Centurion on Saturday morning, paramedics said.

Upon ER24’s arrival, the man was trapped in his vehicle. After he was extricated from the vehicle he received advanced life support, ER24 spokeswoman Ineke van Huyssteen said.

“ER24 transported the man to a nearby hospital but sadly he later succumbed to his injuries. The [people] in the other vehicle suffered no injuries. The exact circumstances around the incident are not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations,” she said.
