#SoNinaBoTaxiDriver trends as South Africans voice their frustrations with taxi drivers

Taxi maths is among one of the most talked about problems commuters have encountered.

Hilarious taxi stories earned their own hashtag on Friday after South Africans took to Twitter to share encounters with taxi drivers they have clearly not been able to forget. Top of the list was how taxi drivers had done nothing to make taxi maths easier for those who have unfortunately been forced to sit in the front seat.

A video of a young man who was furious because numbers were not adding up was circulated on social media, and used as an example of how serious of a problem taxi maths was. In the video, the man told the commuters not to mess with him as he was “short-tempered”.

“I am short-tempered, I get angry fast. Quick in a hurry,” said the man.

Here is another video showing just how much of a problem taxi maths can be:

Still on the money, South Africans used the hashtag to tell taxi drivers that they were tired of being driven back to the taxi rank just because the collective taxi fare was short.

Another issue that was raised was taxi drivers who played music loudly but also complained that commuters never spoke loudly enough when asking to be dropped off at their stop.

These were some of the concerns that were raised:
