The Zuma surname is ‘terrorising’ the nation, argues Twitter

By Citizen Reporter

Kaizer Chiefs on Thursday announced it had signed Dumisani Zuma from Bloemfontein Celtic on a three-year deal, and the player immediately trended on Twitter. Though he is said to be a brilliant player, that is unfortunately not why he found himself on the trends list.

He trended because Twitter thought he was linked to President Jacob Zuma and was perhaps implicated in a report exposing corruption.

“It’s so unfair that Dumisani Zuma is trending on the grounds of mistaken identity than his real achievements,” wrote one user.

Some on Twitter have advised him to change his surname until 2019 to help keep the peace, as people do not associate his surname with anything good anymore.

“Eish.. haai maan this Zuma surname is terrorising the nation. We must heal. At least Dumisani Zuma is a soccer player,” said one Twitter user, while another said their heart stopped for a moment, thinking something bad had happened.

“Eish Jacob has ruined the Zuma surname, Now Dumisani Zuma is trending for wrong reasons eish,” wrote another.

One user said they immediately switched to “anger mode” after seeing Zuma trending because they thought there was an Eskom scandal.
