Uproar over Gauteng woman’s k-word tirade following car crash

By Citizen Reporter

Amid the Covid-19 outbreak and subsequent lockdown, South Africans now have to deal with a racist rant that was captured on video and shared on social media.

Twitter user Siphosethu Ngomane shared a video of Gauteng woman who let rip following a minor car collision between the two.

While Ngomane claimed it was the woman who crashed into her car, the woman clearly did not agree and obscenities ensued as a result.

Ngomane said she was on her way from work when she noticed the driver of the car in front of her had lost control.

Ngomane said: “I slowed down to make sure that I maintain a safe following distance [as I was]. The car then hit a lamppost and stopped moving altogether, the driver seemed to be in a fit-like condition and then became unconscious. We then called the police …”

As they were waiting for police, the woman in the video allegedly crashed in their car.

“Instead of apologising, she cursed me out, slapping my phone out my hand [and it hit my face], threatened to ‘beat me up’, calling me names. But the final straw was when she used the k-word!”

While the video that has been shared does not show moments before the crash, it shows the woman slapping the phone out of Ngomane’s hand and calling her the k-word several times.

She has since opened a case against the woman.

MEC for community safety Faith Mazibuko has reached out to Ngomane following the incident, while people have called for the woman’s arrest.
