Julius Malema is expected to give the main address.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) are hosting a memorial service for anti-apartheid activist Winnie Madikizela-Mandela in Brandfort, where the struggle icon was banished by the apartheid government.
The service got under way with the singing of the national anthem, and the party’s national chairperson, Dali Mpofu, said all attendees would not sing the last part of the anthem – Die Stem – as the organisation does not recognise it as part of the song.
Madikizela-Mandela’s neighbour in Brandfort is expected to share a few words on the late struggle icon with the party’s commander-in-chief giving the main address.
