The South African Weather Service (Saws) has released its latest weather forecast for Friday, 30 May 2025.

A yellow level 2 warning remains for damaging coastal waves, while inland provinces like Free State and North West enjoy fine and cool conditions on Friday. Here’s what you need to know.

Weather warnings, Friday, 30 May

Impact-based warnings

The weather service issued a yellow level 2 warning for damaging waves leading to difficulty in navigation at sea, which is expected between Saldanha Bay and Cape Agulhas to Plettenberg Bay until Sunday.

Provincial weather forecast

Here’s what to expect in your province on Friday, 30 May:

Gauteng:

Residents of Gauteng can expect fine and cool weather but warm in the extreme north.

The region’s expected UVB sunburn index is “very high”.

Residents should take the necessary precautions against prolonged sun exposure.

Mpumalanga:

Mpumalanga residents can expect fine and cool to warm conditions, but hot in Lowveld.

Limpopo:

The day will be fine and cool to warm but hot in the Limpopo Valley.

North West:

Fine and cool weather awaits North West residents.

Free State:

Residents of the Free State will experience fine and cool weather.

Northern Cape:

The day will start with morning fog along the coast and adjacent interior; otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and cold to cool but fine in the east.

Western Cape:

Western Cape residents can expect partly cloudy and cool to cold conditions with light rain over the western parts in the morning, becoming fine over the south coast in the evening.

Eastern Cape (western half):

It will be cloudy in the morning with isolated showers in places along western parts of the coast; otherwise, it will be fine and cool to cold.

Eastern Cape (eastern half):

The day will be fine and cool to cold.

KwaZulu-Natal:

Residents of KwaZulu-Natal can look forward to fine and cool but warm weather in the east becoming partly cloudy in places in the afternoon.

The region’s expected UVB sunburn index is “high”.

Residents should take the necessary precautions against prolonged sun exposure.
