Isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers expected in Gauteng

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over the western parts of the Free State.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) expects light rain and thundershowers in several parts of the country on Freedom Day.

Parts of Gauteng, Western Cape and the Eastern Cape are some of the areas that will experience light rain.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over the western parts of the Free State, interior of the Eastern Cape, eastern parts of the Western Cape, and the south-eastern parts of the Northern Cape, warned the weather service.

“Conditions are such that the FDI index is above 75. Under these conditions, fires may develop and spread rapidly, resulting in damage to property and possible loss of human and animal life,” said the weather service.
