WATCH: Pastor says congregants will ‘die very quick’ if they ‘disobey’ his call for money

Those who give money to the church will apparently live long, says the pastor.

Another pastor has come under the spotlight on social media after a video of him commanding congregants to pay money surfaced. In the video, the pastor tells congregants to walk to the alter to give God “his money”, or face trouble if they disobey. He further says some will “die very quick” if they choose to withhold “God’s money”.

He says: “Stand up, don’t waste my time. God says all you here, you’ll be in trouble if you disobey. You’ll die very quick. God wants his money. Lift your hands and say ‘I will not refuse with God’s money’. Don’t waste money, which card are you using? [he asks a young woman]. Tell your mother she must give that money from Absa and she will live long. Tell those going to the front they will live long.”

“I’m blown away. The fact that he is blatant and has no shame!! What a wow!! But sadly the lack of religious regulation has made that fertile ground for such people who exploit the poor,” said TV personality Mpho Letsholonyane, while @adv_albert said: “There is a very hot place in hell reserved for these so-called prophets but how people can be so naive to believe that they can donate their way into heaven is beyond me; it is a special kind of dumb. Think about it, there is no difference between these people and ANC supporters.”

This comes after an old video of ECG leader Sheperd Bushiri fundraising R500 million for a building project resurfaced on social media. In the video, Bushiri tells congregants the “good” news that he had managed to raised R500 million while the “bad” news was that the money was still in the congregants’ pockets.
