ONCE her patrons have been fitted, owner of Satin Candy lingerie store Sandra Thomas, encourages them to hand in their unused bras for them to be donated to a cause such as the Open Door Crisis Centre, instead of throwing them away.
On receiving the generous donation from Sandra, Thora Mansfield from the Open Door Crisis Centre, based in Pinetown said, “Many of the women we work with do not have the luxury of being able to afford a beautiful undergarment. The provision of this generous donation is a wonderful way for us to give back and offer a little self-worth and dignity”.
Thora, who has a delightful sense of humour, said with a twinkle in her eye, “This is a social upliftment project that is two-fold.“
Thora went on to say that their priority with this campaign is to not only rebuild victims’ self-worth, but to raise as much awareness during the 16 days of Activism against abuse of women and children. This provides a platform to educate the public on the seriousness of the issue of human trafficking and abuse. Exposure of this challenging problem is so extremely important, as awareness is the first step toward finding an effective solution.
