TENSE – that encapsulates the current atmosphere surrounding the Enforce headquarters, as management and staff await news of their injured comrade, who was critically wounded during a shootout on Milkwood Drive in uMhlanga on Friday night.
While the courageous Dino Moodley’s’ vitals seem to have improved slightly over the weekend, doctors have raised concern regarding his kidneys, which have taken tremendous strain.
The security officer is in a critical condition, after he sustained two gunshot wounds during the fierce gun battle. Initial reports confirmed that one of the bullets struck the guard in the thigh and tore through his femoral artery, causing excessive bleeding.
Updated information provided by Nico Potgieter, head of Enforce investigations, indicated that Moodley sustained a second gunshot wound. “We can now confirm that he sustained two gunshot wounds. One bullet went straight through his thigh, and the second entered through his buttock and lodged in his stomach,” said Potgieter.
“He is still in an induced coma. We believe the doctors have not been able to remove the second bullet , because he is too weak,” said Potgieter.
The nightmare began when the guard responded to a house break-in, and interrupted the intruders who were ransacking a home. Paramedics declared the guard clinically dead at the scene, but managed to revive him, before transporting him to the St Augustine’s Hospital.
