Durban North resident hijacked and abducted while doing community work

While the resident was later released unharmed, the search for the suspects is still ongoing.

A DURBAN North resident was hijacked while doing community work in the Ntuzuma area on Monday evening.

Ensure Security spokesperson Kyle van Reenen confirmed the hijacking occurred at about 19:00.

“A GPS location of the incident was attained, and Tactical Intervention Units were mobilised to the area. Within 15 minutes, the resident was located near the Soweto area of Ntuzuma,” he explained.

“Reports are that while she was returning to her vehicle, she was confronted by four armed men who forced her into her vehicle before driving off. She was later released, and with the help of a community member, was able to call for assistance.”

Van Reenen said the search for the hijacked vehicle and suspects remains ongoing.

The resident was unharmed in the incident, and a case has been opened at the Durban North Police Station.
