Alert: Homeowners warned against robbers in the province

The community needs to be cautious and alert at all times

Police in KwaZulu-Natal are warning residents to be alert at all times and not to allow strangers into their homes.

This warning comes after reported incidents in the province where criminals have gained entrance into properties under false pretences and have robbed the occupants.

Often they will arrive clad in blue work wear and when the victims open the gate, they proceed to rob them of their valuables.

The community needs to be cautious and alert in this regard. Do not let strangers into your home; ask for an identity document or work identification card as proof of employment.

There is also a trend where criminals arrive in luxury vehicles and hoot at people’s gates. Most often, the homeowners never check before opening the gates.

Criminals are using this modus operandi because they know most residents are lax and unsuspecting.
