When Thomas (Dylan O’Brien), Minho (Ki Hong Lee), Teresa (Kaya Scodelario), Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), Frypan (Dexter Darden) and Winston (Alexander Flores) escaped from the maze in the first movie of the series based on the novels of James Dashner, they thought their worries were over, until Thomas realised that something wasn’t right.
Together with a new member in their group, Aris Jones (Jacob Lofland), the Gladers find themselves on the run again, trying to escape the reach of the WCKD. Their plan is to find The Right Arm, a resistance group located in the mountains, and the key to a safe haven and refuge for immune children like them. Unfortunately, it’s not so easy to find them because, in order to get there, the children have to cross kilometres of ‘Scorch’ (endless desert filled with all kinds of dangers).
With new types of evil, even the zombie fanatic will enjoy this sequel. The movie is action-packed and thrilling from the very beginning to the end but also emotional and may bring tears to the eyes of those who have come to love the characters.
Prepare yourself for a shocking end with a twist that will make your blood boil. Now, unfortunately, you will have to endure the long wait for the next movie in the series to find out what Thomas and his friends are going to do. I would rate this movie 4/5.
