Planned water shutdown in Ikageng due to maintenance

The planned interruption will affect Potchindustria and Ikageng Proper (Old Ikageng).

Residents in parts of Potchefstroom are urged to prepare for a planned water supply shutdown on Tuesday, March 17, as the JB Marks Local Municipality carries out essential maintenance work at the Ikageng Pumping Station.

According to the municipality, the shutdown will take place from 06:00 until late to allow contractors on site to complete pipeline connection works between Pump Stations 7 and 8, as well as the replacement of dysfunctional valves at the facility.

The planned interruption will affect Potchindustria and Ikageng Proper (Old Ikageng).

Municipal spokesperson Jeanette Tshite said the work is necessary to improve the functioning of the water infrastructure.

“This planned shutdown is required to allow the contractor to complete pipeline connection works between Pump Stations 7 and 8 and to replace dysfunctional valves at the Ikageng Pumping Station,” Tshite said.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to store enough water in advance to last for the duration of the shutdown.

“The municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused while this essential maintenance work is being carried out,” Tshite added.
