Municipality hosts interactive Market Day

The parking lot was transformed into a comprehensive market place with stalls offering a vast array of products and professional expertise.

The JB Marks Local Municipality, through the Departments of Local Economic and Rural Development as well as Sport, Arts, Culture and Heritage, hosted a highly successful JB Marks Market Day at the Tourism Information Centre on Friday, March 27.

The event, held in collaboration with the Potchefstroom Tourism Association and a valued support of the Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism (DEDECT) serves as a vital platform for stimulating the local economy and promoting cultural exchange as a tourism experience.

Two Councillors Malverine Davis who is a Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for Local Economic & Rural Development and Patricia Mtshali who is a Member of the Mayoral Committee for Sport, Arts, Culture and Heritage in attendance, underscored the Municipality’s commitment to SMME growth and artistic development.

The parking lot was transformed into a comprehensive market place with stalls offering a vast array of products and professional expertise ranging from gourmet food, high-end fashion, and bespoke fragrances to unique artworks, financial consultations, automotive services, and property solutions.

The turnout from the performing arts sector were exceptional. The day was defined by vibrant, high-calibre performances that showcase the immense creative talent within our region.

In a dedicated effort to promote our Provincial history, the JB Marks Local Municipality Museum was featuring a specialized exhibition, including a replica of the historic Boskop Skull, inviting citizens to engage with our ancient heritage.

“This initiative reflects our ongoing mission to build the JB Marks Local Municipality and North West Province that work for all by bridging the gap between local entrepreneurs, artists, and the community,” added JB Marks spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite.
