Renovations taking place at Municipality to address building issues
The Municipality has appointed a contractor who is currently on site attending to the issues raised by the inspectors.
The public will need to use an alternative entrance to gain access revenue services at the JB Marks Municipality headquarters in Potch after the municipality non-compliance with certain requirements.
A notice has also been posted outside the main entrance of the Dan Tloome Civic Centre in Wolmarans Street stating that the Department of Employment and Labour had issued Prohibition Notices for the temporary closure of the revenue section.
“This action follows the Municipality’s non-compliance with certain requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993), as amended,” explained the notice.

The Herald had previously reported this month of structural issues and roof leaks which was a health and safety hazard.
JB Marks spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite stated in a press release that the revenue office was closed on Friday, 22 May, due to renovations.
The Municipality has appointed a contractor who is currently on site attending to the issues raised by the inspectors in order to improve the conditions of the affected areas.
According to the Municipality the sections mentioned above will be reopened once compliance requirements have been met.
Members of the public are encouraged to use the alternative entrance at the front of the building to access Revenue Services.
