The Africa T20 Cup was held at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom last weekend (11-13 September).    Some of the country’s best players such as Kyle Abbott, Aaron Phangiso and Stiaan van Zyl were in action. New up-and-coming cricketers and the future of South African cricket were also present.

What was not present, however, was a crowd. The grass banks and stands were virtually empty Only on Sunday had a few more people managed to come to the cricket to watch the North West pick up a scintillating one-ball victory.

People in Potchefstroom generally moan that there is nothing to do on weekends.  Why not go to the cricket, then? Supersport also broadcast the tournament live – imagine watching the game on television, only to see no supporters in the stands?

  1. Match postponed due to load shedding

  1. Go Bokke!

All eyes will be on England in September and October as the 2015 Rugby World Cup comes home to the land of its origin. The famous story was that William Webb-Ellis played football and then ran with the ball – and so rugby was born.

The opening match of the World Cup will be on Friday as England takes on Fiji at 21:00. The Springboks will play against Japan on Saturday in their first group match at 17:45. The first steps to the title will be taken where heroes are born and legends are made.
