North West Cricket is heading for a fresh new chapter in its history with the election of Dr Oupa Nkagisang as the new president of North West Cricket during the association’s annual AGM on Monday, 1 August 2016.
Nkagisang, who was the former vice- president of North West Cricket, now replaces Archie Pretorius, who served his tenure for six years. Jan Wiedeman was also nominated for the position of president earlier but he withdrew his nomination and Nkagisang won the vote unopposed. Weideman will now fulfill the vice-president role.
“I am honoured to be able to continue the good work that Archie has done at North West Cricket. I believe I will take cricket to greater heights and, with his support, establish North West Cricket as one of the best unions in the country. I have the skills and motivation to do so,” he said.
Pretorius also congratulated Nkagisang and was honoured to have carried North West Cricket through various exciting phases during his time as president.
