The North West Dragons extended their unbeaten run to 6 matches in the CSA Provincial One Day Tournament with a hard-fought 5-wicket victory against KZN Inland in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday afternoon.
The ever-dependable Richardt Frenz took the Dragons home with a resilient 65* (106) balls that included 8 fours, as the team from North West reached the target of 185 with 17 balls to spare.

Richardt Frenz (left) scored an unbeaten 65 to guide North West to their sixth consecutive One Day win of 2017. Next to him is leg spinner Dylan Matthews who has been one of the finds of the season.

The win was set up thanks to the bowling of Brady Barends and company who kept things tight and accurate from the start of play. Barends took 4/46, with André Malan (2/16) and Aya Myoli (1/21) ably assisting the right-arm pace bowler as they bowled out KZN Inland for a sparse 184.

Gareth Dukes was the top batsman for Inland as he hit 49 (47), narrowly missing out on a deserved half century.
North West’s reply was stop-start as no batsman, with the exception of Frenz, seemed to keep their wickets. Jovaun van Wyngaardt (31 off 42) though kept a steady head coming in with 40 runs needed as he played his natural game to take North West over the line.
