Potchefstroom Swimming Club hosted a very successful, fun lollipop gala at a glimmering Potch Boys High’s swimming pool on Friday, 16 February.
The aim of the gala was to introduce swimming as a sport to youngsters (ages 3–9 years) and instil in them a love for the sport.
‘Our mission is to encourage children to develop swimming skills and be lifelong swimmers. A total of 90 entries ensured an action-packed day. Every swimmer received a participating medal and a lollipop after every race,’ said Marike van Oort, the swimming coach at Potchefstroom Swimming Club.
Medals were awarded to the first three swimmers. Senior swimmers of the club were in the water all the time, encouraging the swimmers and making sure everyone was comfortable at all times.
Potchefstroom Swimming Club would like to thank Boys High for the use of their swimming pool.
