It was an absolute run fest in the CSA Provincial One Day Match between the North West Dragons and Easterns at Senwes Park last Sunday, which the visitors won by 7 runs.
It was a tight encounter where the willow reigned supreme as Easterns compiled a challenging 328/7 from their 50 overs, thanks to superb centuries from Jurie Snyman (136 off 120 balls) and Grant Thomson (104 off 113 balls).
Craig Alexander was the most economical bowler as the experienced paceman ended with figures of 2/40 in his 10 overs.
The North West Dragons did their utmost in the chase with Shane Dadswell (91) and Richardt Frenz (108) putting on a brilliant 163-run partnership for the second wicket. This solid start could not see the Dragons through, though, as they lost crucial wickets.
The middle and lower order failed to stabilise the innings and the run rate got the better of the home team in the end.
Easterns’ Armandt Erasmus was the pick of the bowlers in the latter stages as he took a five-wicket haul and career-best 5-75.
