This upbeat, excited local u.15 soccer team has been performing brilliantly in the Coca-Cola u.15 tournament this month. They won the provincial leg at Alabama Stadium in Klerksdorp to achieve a spot in the national tournament that will take place from 26 to 29 September.
Seiphemelo Secondary School will represent the entire North West province at the national tournament and, although their u.15 team has bucket loads of talent, they do not have the necessary equipment to enhance their opportunity.

Currently, this provincial champion team needs 10 match balls, marking cones, shin guards, water bottles, meals and school blazers. According to the head coach, Themba Vana, one of their most important needs are soccer boots for his players.
‘We especially need proper soccer boots for the young players. We do not practise on grass and the boots the players have are really worn out. They need all the motivation they can get and practising and preparing with the best equipment will go a long way to achieving success at the national tournament,’ he said.
Vana emphasised that his team’s success can be attributed to hard work and passion, despite coming from difficult social backgrounds.
‘These players have tremendous potential and we urge the community and businesses to assist us in any way possible.’
Those who are willing to support this team can contact the school via email on seiphemelointer469@gmail.com. Alternatively, they can contact the team manager, Moss Mkwanazi on 071 536 8570.
