Potchefstroom Dorp Cricket Club made light work of Ikageng Cricket Club this past week with a comprehensive 196 run win in their North West Premier League encounter on Saturday, 6 October.
This match, played at the Witrand Oval, saw Dorp make 296/6 before reducing Ikageng to 100 all out. The star of Potch Dorp was the experienced Richardt Frenz, who made 107 (118) in a typical knock filled with quality strokes. His straight drives down the ground made for many highlights. Frenz was ably supported during his innings by Hano Grové (46 off 50) and Duncan Stevens (70 off 50), who put on more runs. Pena Motsamai (3/42) was the pick of the Ikageng bowlers with his accurate spin bowling, reaping great rewards.

Ikageng’s young side, which consists of mainly hub-based players, could not take the heat of the Potch Dorp bowling attack. They were skittled out for 100. Potch Dorp’s Barend de Klerk was the home sides’s destroyer-in-chief, taking 5/25 as he ripped through the opposition batsmen with JP le Roux (2/32).
