In a battle between the only two undefeated teams in the North West Club Premier League, Impala Precrete gained the ascendancy with a 74-run win over NWU Puk at the Willie Esterhuizen Oval last weekend.Impala’s Michael Fielding was the player of the match for the men from Rustenburg with an unbeaten 80 and taking 4/34 with the ball.

It was typical all-rounder performance from the talented fielding, who kept the NWU on its toes with both bat and ball. Impala batted first and made 235/6 in their 50 overs, while the visitors could only muster 161 all out. The top bowler for the NWU was Jon Hinrichsen who returned figures of 3/42. Bradley Lynch was the top-scoring batsman for the NWU with 24, as no batsman could spend enough time at the crease to create meaningful partnerships. Interestingly, the extras Impala conceded (29) was the top-scorer for the visitors.

In Potchefstroom, Potch Dorp comfortably beat NWU Taurus by five wickets at the Witrand Oval. Taurus batted first and were skittled out for 118. Marco Jansen was the top bowler for Potch Dorp with 5/25. Potch Dorp then proceeded to 121/5 with Richardt Frenz top scoring with 41* (52).

NWU Ibbies also achieved a comfortable seven-wicket victory against Potch Dorp 2 to move to the third spot on the log. Ibbies’ bowlers ripped through Potch Dorp to dismiss then for 90.

Mac van der Merwe was the chief destroyer for Ibbies with 4/22. Nico Davin’s 34 (21) and Louis van Schalkwyk’s 44 (41) easily took Ibbies past the target with aggressive batting.
