The 2018 North West Club Cricket season has reached the halfway point with the December break giving cricketers the chance to refuel before the second half of the season starts in January next year.
At the moment, several clubs have put their hands up in the various leagues this season and, in this review, we will look at the North West Club Premier League and the Women’s Premier League log standings.

Impala Precrete is currently on top of the log in the North West Club Premier League on 39 points after an unbeaten season thus far. The men from Rustenburg have had a stellar start to their campaign and will need to continue the momentum in the new year to usurp the title from the defending champions, NWU Pukke 1.

The students are hot on the heels of the men from Rustenburg and one slip-up from Impala will give the NWU the chance to gain ascendancy. Impala got the upper hand over the NWU in their last match, though, and it will be interesting to see if a reversal of fortunes will occur when the reverse fixture is played in the new year.

NWU Ibbies and Potch Dorp are also in a tightly-fought battle for the third spot on the table as they are both tied on 30 points. The only thing separating these two clubs is the marginal difference in net run rate. Potch Dorp has had a steady season so far, with Richardt Frenz and Stefan Gericke hitting some big scores with the willow.

In the women’s division, Klerksdorp Travellers are in first place on 17 points, followed by Ikageng Cricket Club’s women and the consistent Vaal Reefs in the third spot on 13 points.
It will be interesting to see how the season unravels in the new year with a lot more cricket still to be played.
