The SA Proteas Women made a clean sweep of victories against the Sri Lanka Women at Senwes Park on Sunday (17 February) with an easy 6-wicket win to claim a 3–0 WODI series victory.
The South Africans bowled out Sri Lanka for 141 with the captain, Suné Luus, (4/30) taking the bulk of the wickets. The experienced Mignon du Preez compiled a superb unbeaten 61 (87) to take her side to victory with 12 overs to spare at 141/4.
Sri Lanka never got the start they wanted and were behind the eight-ball from the beginning when the captain, Chamari Athaphathu was dismissed for a golden duck as SA’s top seamer, Shabnim Ismail struck. Ismail ended with outstanding figures of 7–4–8–1. Anushka Sanjeewani was Sri Lanka’s top batter with 28 to her name.
