The NWU Women’s Varsity Hockey team are heading for the final this Monday, 20 May, after a nerve wrecking come from behind 5-4 win against Kovsies.
The NWU have now reached their first final and will look to bring the trophy home to Potchefstroom. Maties though will not be an easy opponent especially on their own astroturf.
The Maties will look at the talents of Lee-Ann Louwrens, Paige Phillips and Stephanie Botha to take them to the cup. NWU will want Carli Pretorius, captain, Charné Maddocks and Courtney du Preez to take them to the title.
NWU coach Shaun Hulley also believes the NWU has all the motivation they need to bring the trophy back home to Potch.
“We showed that Maties aren’t unbeatable and we will have to believe that we can do the job again. It will be one helluva game against Maties.”
The final will start at 18:45 and will be broadcasted live on Supersport 10 (210)
