Potch Boys High smash THS to reclaim Classic Clash

The hero for Boys High was their Super Eagle, Ikechukwu Obi who picked up a hat-trick of tries.

It was a victory for the ages for Potchefstroom Boys High in front of their passionate home crowd this afternoon when they claimed a handsome and deserving 49-15 win against THS Potchefstroom.

This Classic Clash encounter was a try fest of note with Boys High recording 7 tries as opposed to THS’ two tries. The hero for Boys High was their Super Eagle, Ikechukwu Obi who picked up a hat-trick of tries. The right winger was on the top of this game and dazzled the crowd with his running skills. Credit, must also be given to Boys High Full back, Warabile Bontse, who put in a player of the match performance. Lesedi Maribe and Vuyani Mbulawa was also flawless from the kicking tee slotting all seven conversions between them.

THS though started the brightest with Gomolemo Manyeneng scoring a brilliant individual try to hand Tegnies the lead. He converted his own try to take the score to 7-0. This was the last bit of happiness for the away side as College proceded to score 49 unanswered points. Ngakane Magashula scored the first try – also a brilliant solo run to score under the posts. Obi scored his first in the corner followed by team mate and prop, Tyriq Schoeman to take Boys High to 21-7 at the half-time break.

The carnage continued as Obi and Bonswe scored further tries to cement the most impressive win in recent memory. Manyeneng’s second try was scant consolation for the men in white, who were outplayed for most of the match.
