Dr Kenneth Kaunda and Tshwane went into two extra time periods before the winner could finally be decided, with the Pretoria- based outfit taking a 52-48 win. This after the match ended 40-40 at full time. Tshwane took an early 14-11 lead in the first quarter before Dr. Elsje Jordaan’s charges came back to lead 24-23 at half-time. However, Tshwane clawed their way back to lead 31-30 after the third quarter.
In the end the ball fell more kindly for Tshwane as the Potchefstroom-based Dr. KK side just fell short at the final hurdle by a hair’s breadth.
For Dr KK, the former Protea, Elsunet du Plessis, together with youngster Chanté Louw, banged in the goals. Captain Romé Dreyer was also one of the top players during the championships.
In defence, the ever-dependable Monique Reyneke and Simoné Rabie kept things tight.
Chantelle Swart and Venetia Grobler were on a roll for Tshwane with their goal scoring ability. Jasmine Ziegelmeier continued her great form in defence for the Pretorians
