Tuks outplay NWU in one sided Varsity Netball semi-final

Tuks also showed an aggressive and determined attitude, whilst the NWU lacked a bit of bite in attack and defence against the unbeaten hosts.

Tuks claimed a comprehensive 57-38 victory against the NWU in the 2019 Varsity Netball semi-final tonight in Pretoria.

The NWU were outclassed from the onset as Tuks showcased their superiority in the shooting circle with a 94% success rate as opposed to NWU’s 54% average.

Venetia Grobler was on fire for the Pretoria based outfit, whilst Bianca van Lelyveld left her shooting skills at home, with an average display by her standards in front of goal. This was one of the detrimental aspects to the NWU’s chances, as poor communication and unforced errors kept the pressure mounting. Tuks also showed an aggressive and determined attitude, whilst the NWU lacked a bit of bite in attack and defence against the unbeaten hosts.

After the first quarter, Tuks held a 17-8 and extended that to a 32-21 lead at half-time. The NWU needed to put in a much improved performance in the second half, but that plan was quickly derailed as Tuks kept going liked a well-oiled machine taking the advantage further to 20 points. To put it in perspective, the NWU only scored their first points in the third quarter after 8 minutes had already elapsed.

With a 20 points lead, Tuks cruised in the final quarter as they knew that victory was virtually assured.
