The North West Dragons batsmen made hay as the sun shone brightly on day 2 of the CSA 3-day prvincial match against Border at Senwes Park.
At stumps, the Dragons reached 381/5 with a lead of 39 runs, after bowling Border out for 352 on the previous day.
The Dragons’ stars on the day was debutant Nicholas Smit who made a brilliant fighting 153 (239). He frustrated the Border bowlers early on and survived a few close chances, before taking his opportunity with applomb.
Lesego Senokwane (84* off 108) also chipped in with a fine knock after tea to send the North West in the driving seat at the end of a hard day of toil for the hosts. Earlier, Shane Dadswell was in fine fettle for the Dragons with a fantastic 64 (104) before Phaphama Fojela trapped him in front. Paceman, Joshua Dodd also bowled his heart out on the day and was unlucky to not get more wickets to his name.
It looks likely that this match could head for a draw with only today remaining and two innings yet to be completed.
