One of the North West University’s current cricketers and top order batsman, Niko Davin, will be heading to the 2020 ICC T20 Cricket World Cup in Australia (18 October to 15 November) after Namibia qualified for the tournament today.

Namibia are currently competing in the ICC T20 World Cup qualifying tournament in the UAE and progressed to the showpiece event after beating Oman by 53 runs.
Davin hit 21 runs in this innings against Oman. In total Davin has hit 137 runs in the tournament, including a high score of 37. Davin is one of a number of Namibian students currently completing their studies at the NWU.

Namibia, Netherlands, Ireland and Scotland have already qualified for this event with two spots still up for grabs. The top 10 sides in Wirld Cricket, qualify automaticaly.
Former Proteas all rounder, Albie Morkel, is the assistant coach of the Namibian national cricket team.
