The NWU’s former two-time Varsity Netball winner and current Proteas player, Sigi Burger, has recently extended her stay in England’s top netball league.
Burger will play for the London Pulse team again in the 2021 Vitality Netball Super League after impressing in her first season in 2020 for the Pulse. Previously, she spent a couple of seasons with Surrey Storm, where she won the player of the year award in 2019.
The tall, ultra-efficient shooter will undoubtedly be one of the top players in the squad and will bring international experience to the London-based side. Another South African and former Varsity Netball star for Kovsies, Lefebre Rademan, will also join her at the Pulse.
Burger’s rise has been unprecedented since she first starred for the NWU five years ago, under the tutelage of Dorette Badenhorst. Burger has been racking up goals in any uniform ever since and is an inspiration to many up-and-coming varsity netball players.
London Pulse’s Squad: Sigi Burger, Halimat Adio, Ashleigh Dekker, Michelle Drayne, Zara Everitt, Funmi Fadoju, Lindsay Keable, Lefebre Rademan, Ellie Rattu, Kira Rothwell, Isabel Stibbs, Olivia Tchine, Emma Thacker, Adean Thomas, Monique Thompson.
