Rain interrupted the first section in pool A of the 2021 Momentum One Day Cup to such a degree that only 2 of the 6 matches scheduled could be played these past two weeks. If the rain stopped then a wet outfield was the sucker punch for live cricket at Senwes Park.

The Dolphins and the Knights stepped away from the group as semi-finalists, with the Titans, unlucky to miss out after only playing in and losing one match. The Knights also lost but by a smaller margin to the Titans. This is probably one of the few occasions that a team progresses in a competition without winning a match. Cricket fans will hope that pool B will be a larger ray of sunshine with less dark clouds on the horizon in Potchefstroom.

Pool B will feature the Lions, Warriors and Cobras in an intriguing group where any team can come out victorious. Top spot will be first prize which will enable one of the teams in pool B to sidestep the Dolphins in the semi-finals. The Lions face the Cobras in the first match on Friday.

Expect big names such as Janneman Malan and Zubayr Hamza (Cobras) and Ryan Rickelton, Reeza Hendricks (Lions) to make runs with the willow, whilst Sisanda Magala (Lions) and Nandre Burger (Cobras) will provide spice with the ball. North West Dragons players, Johannes Diseko and Kagiso Rapulana could also thrive on their home ground for the Lions.

The Warriors can also not be discounted with several star players in their squad. Rudi Second, Wihan Lubbe, Jon-Jon Smuts and Yaseen Vallie are just some of the players that will look to stamp their authority on proceedings in Potch. The Warriors play their first match against the Lions on Sunday, 24 January. The Warriors face the Cobras in a Cape Derby on Wednesday, 27 January.
