Lions and Dolphins share trophy after rain forces a no result

Play was not possible and due to the Dolphins not batting a minimum of 20 overs, the match was called off and the teams shared the trophy.

The rain had the final say in the 2021 Momentum One Day Cup final between the Dolphins and the Lions at Senwes Park today.

Earlier the Lions posted 225/7 in 45 overs, but the Dolphins could only reach 37/2 after 10.2 overs before the heavens opened up, drenching the ground in puddles of water.

Play was not possible and due to the Dolphins not batting a minimum of 20 overs, the match was called off and the teams shared the trophy.

It was a disappointing end to a final that was poised to go to the wire.
