The SA u.19 women’s cricket team completed a superb 2-0 T20 series victory against Namibia in preparation for the upcoming 2023 u.19 Cricket World Cup.
Young NW Dragons star bowler, Nthabiseng Nini, played a key role in her country’s victory with superb performances with ball in hand.
Nini, a grade 9 learner at HTS Potchefstroom, took seven wickets in the two matches against Namibia u.19, with best figures of 4/18 in the first T20 played at Willowmore Park in Benoni on Wednesday, 13 July.
SA won the first T20 by a massive 134 runs, before dispatching Namibia the next day by 136 runs.
“It was amazing and I have learned a lot that I can take back home. I feel overwhelmed because my teammates and I sat down with our head coach Dinesha Devnarain and discussed a game plan which helped a lot,” stated Nini excitedly.
The SA u.19 team also played against a combined Lions/Titans team in two T20 matches which they also won to keep their unbeaten record during the week. Nini also took a wicket in these matches.
