South Africa are back on the winning track on the netball court at the 2022 Commonwealth Games after a dominating 91-36 win against Barbados in Pool A.
The Proteas ladies lost their first match of the Games against Jamaica, but showcased the depth of talent with a superb win – just in time for a crucial match against tournament favourites, Australia that will take place today (Monday, 1 August).
NWU goal shooter, Elmeré van der Berg was on top form scoring 47 goals in 45 minutes on the court. She substituted, former Potch Volkies-alumni, Ine-Mari Venter, who started the match. Venter contributed 14 goals.
The experienced Lefebre Rademan (12 goals) and youngster, Nichole Taljaard (18 goals) also contributed to SA’s win.
The main goal for South Africa will be to make the semi-final stage and a first ever win today against Australia will go a long way to achieving that.
