Dr. KK’s senior team eventually took third place with a 34-27 win against Mangaung in the 3rd and 4th place playoff match.

The curtain came down on a superbly hosted, 2022 Spar National Netball Championships, in Potchefstroom this past Saturday, 13 August, as Johannesburg were crowned new SA champions for the first time.

Johannesburg beat fellow Gauteng outfit, Tshwane 24-23 in a pulsating final. Dr. Elsje Jordaan, a former NW Flames and NWU netball head coach coach, took her Gauteng team to victory at her former home court.

The home team Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, lost their semi-final to Johannesburg by 39-22.

Dr Kenneth Kaunda senior coach Elsunet du Plessis was disappointed after the match.

“Our shooting was poor and there is no point in achieving turnovers and then giving away possession.  But they are a very young team and I am excited about their future,” said Du Plessis.
