Dragons keeps spot in division 1 whilst Knights get relegated
The team from Potchefstroom’s exploits in the One Day and T20 competitions over the course of two seasons weighed in their favour, as opposed to the Knights who generally had struggles in all formats during the past two seasons.
The 2022/23 CSA 4 Day division 1 series is drawing to a close this week with the final round of action taking place at various venues across the country.
The bottom of the log North West Dragons are once again in a difficult position after being bowled out for only 148 in their first innings against the Titans at Supersport Park in Centurion.
The Titans are currently were dismissed for 319 all out with Dragons left-arm spinner, Senuran Muthusamy picking up 6/62 after returning from Proteas duty. It was definitely a clear illustration of Muthusamy’s skill and control as he ripped open the middle and lower order.
The Titans were on 210/4 at one stage but a collapse saw the Dragons fight back on day 2.
NWU all-rounder, Hardus Coetzer, made his first class debut for the Dragons taking 1/70.
*The Dragons’ will still stay in division 1 after winning a close relegation battle against the Knights.
The Dragons are on 18 points on the combined log just above the Knights on 13 points.

KZN Inland will join division 1 next season after completing an exhilarating promotion charge at the backend of the season of the final CSA 4 Day fixtures.
The finish just two points (47) ahead of the Northern Cape Heat (45) in the fight for promotion from division 2 for the past two seasons.
Inland won the CSA One Day Cup back to back in the past two seasons and their consistency played a big part in their promotion.
