Local team takes overall win at exhilarating Barberspan 500

Dewald van Breda (driver) and Stompie Mynhardt (navigator) took the The orange and black-attack of Crew812’s Century CR6 vehicle to victory at the Barberspan 500 off-road marathon race.

Dewald van Breda stamped his authority and flew the Potch flag high with a superb victory for Potch based Crew812 in the legendary Westfert Barberspan 500 Off Road North marathon event.

The orange and black-attack of Crew812’s Century CR6 vehicle was in full swing in the FIA Class throughout two days of racing from 5-6 May, which consisted of two 230km stages.

The two stages were a complete contrast with day 1 filled with sunny skies and the second day awash with gloomy skies, which made for a wet and slippery conditions.

Van Breda took second places on the first and second days of racing, but was crowned as the overall winner, due to their consistency.  This resulted in him and his navigator, Stompie Mynhardt, taking the win in the FIA-class.

Crew 812 had stiff competition from Hennie de Klerk in his Toyota Hilux who took the win on day one. Sa’ood Variawa (Toyota Hilux) took the win on the second day of racing.

“I want to thank Potch Plastic, Master Hose, Quattro Fuels, CFAM, Maruco Carriers and Body Lab for making it possible to compete,” stated an elated, Van Breda.
