Tshegofatso Monyela has not let a seven-month injury layoff keep her from doing what she loves.
The Saints Christian School and North West Dragons women’s player has fully recovered from wrist and back injuries and is back playing cricket in utterly dominant fashion.
She played her first game last week in the North-West u.19 league against Impala Hub, where she scored an incredible 116 runs unbeaten off 62 balls, showcasing her 360-degree scoring ability. She followed that up with another 116* off 64 balls against Volkies’ u.19 girls team, as well as a 58 against Driehoek this past week.

Her participation in the North West senior Dragons team from age 13 and subsequent selection to the SA Schools Cricket team for the national week last year, where she excelled and was one of the top run scorers despite being only 15 years old, were undoubtedly highlights of her blossoming career.
Injuries though halted her progress for seven months, which really frustrated Tshegofatso.
Nevertheless, she persisted and did her best to follow the programmes that the physiotherapist and biokineticist, JD Joubert, worked out for her.

Saints would like to express their gratitude to Joubert for always being eager to assist her and to facilitate a quick recovery.
“Tshego is back to her best, and we are looking forward to the next season with her serving as captain of our U-19 girls’ team. She is also extremely thrilled to rejoin the North-West Dragons Women’s team this year and contribute significantly on the pitch for them. We are extremely proud of her and thank God for the wonderful talent that He has given her,” added Saints Sport Coordinator, Claudio Lucas.
