Dragons thrash Titans at Supersport Park

It was a brilliant team performance with both bat and ball that took the Dragons to their third win in a row, and certainly their most satisfying yet.

The North West Dragons made a bold statement this afternoon (Friday, 13 October) after cruising to an 8 wicket victory against the Titans in the CSA One Day Cup match at Supersport Park in Centurion.

It was a brilliant team performance with both bat and ball that took the Dragons to their third win in a row, and certainly their most satisfying yet.

The bowlers did the hard yards restricting the Titans to 207 all out in 37.2 overs. Every bowler chipped in with Sen Muthusamy (2/46), Kerwin Mungroo (2/33) and Migael Pretorius (2/35) picking up key wickets. Dragons openers, Meeka-eel Prince (89 off 78 balls) and Lesego Senokwane (52 off 47 balls) put on a 115 run stand for the first wicket. Prince was named as the player of the match for a superb knock.

This enabled the Dragons to cruise home with 19 overs to spare. Raynard van Tonder with an unbeaten (32 off 41 balls) and captain Wihan Lubbe (15* from 20 balls) steered the team to the impressive win.

The Titans got off to a fantastic start with Dewald Brevis hitting his first list A century (100 off 78 balls). Brevis showed his talent with majestic hitting as he set Supersport Park alight.

At one stage the Titans were on 168/3 after 26 overs, but Brevis’ departure started a major collapse.

Mungroo first got Brevis caught, before bowling the dangerous Donavon Ferreira for a duck. It was a magical over that swung the game in the Dragons’ favour. The Titans lost their last 7 wickets for only 39 runs.

The Dragons did not let their chances slip and continued the good form with the bat to outwit the Titans away from home.

The Dragons are back home on Friday, 20 October when they take on the Lions at the J.B. Marks Oval. The match starts at 13:00.
