It was tough day at the office for the North West Dragons on the opening day of their CSA 4-Day Cup match against the Lions at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
The Lions won the toss and made 328/3 in 86 overs in the first day of play on Monday, 13 November.
The Dragons bowlers struggled to break the opening partnership of 156 between Joshua Richards (82 off 130 balls) and Dominic Hendricks (64 off 146 balls) and had to wait for 44 overs before the first wicket fell.

Ruan de Swardt (1/33) bounced out Hendricks with Duan Jansen taking the catch on the boundary. Senuran Muthusamy (1/71) also took the wicket of Ryan Rickelton for 58 (93 balls).

Zubayr Hamza (77 off 102 balls) and Wiaan Mulder (35 off 48 balls) are currently not out.
The Dragons will need to also deliver a top performance with the bat if they are to stand a chance in this match that had been dominated by the willow.
The start of day 2 has been delayed due to a wet outfield.
