THS Potch claim Classic Clash bragging rights

Potchefstroom Technical High School reclaimed FNB Classic Clash glory with a thrilling 21–17 comeback win over rivals Potch Boys High.

Potchefstroom Technical High School (THS) claimed a win over their rivals Potchefstroom High School for Boys on 31 May.

THS secured a narrow, 21 – 17 win to claim back the FNB Classic Clash title from College.

According to Pieter oosthuizen, coach of the 1st XV of THS, the boys launched a splendid come back after being behind 12-0.

“We starting fighting back in the first half already, by halftime we were up 14-12. In the second half the game was played mostly in the midfield but we were able to score a try making it 21 – 12,” Oosthuizen said.

College scored in the dying minutes to reduce the final score to 21 -17.

“We didn’t just go out to win in the clash but to better our standing in the league. We have two must win games left which makes it a little more difficult,” said Oosthuizen.

“All our boys truly played like champions. We saw great heart, skill, and growth across all age groups,” said Mohlahleli Mohau, coach of College’s 1st XV.

The Age group results are as follows:

U14: 17–0

U15: 6-36

U16: 5-52
