Saints bowlers show their class in opening Schools SA20 match

Saints were dominant with ball in hand as they bowled Hoërskool Witteberg out for only 17 runs.

It was a demolition job at the Witrand Oval today (Friday, 16 January) as Saints Christian School’s u19 cricket girls beat Witteberg from Bethlehem by 83 runs in their opening Schools SA20 match in the Central Phase.

Saints bowlers were in top form as they bowled Witteberg’s girls out for only 17 runs. Witteberg also did not do themselves any favours with needless runouts.

The top bowlers for Saints were Bophelo “Dynamite” Sothoane (3/1), Gogontle Padi (2/7) and Reabetswe Dithipe (1/4).

Earlier on, Saints struggled with the bat and performed below their usual high standard. A fighting 28 from Siphumelele Duma and a gutsy 17 from Leanny Makusha as well as 23 extras, took Saints to 95/7.

Saints have qualified for the final against Witteberg tomorrow at the J.B. Marks Oval at 14:00. They will face St. Patricks CBC in the last pool match at 09:30 first, which will act as good warm-up for the final.
