Central claims victory against M.L. Fick

Potchefstroom Central School edged out Laerskool M.L. Fick in a thrilling contest by 2 wickets on the JB Marks Oval.

It was an entertaining contest between Potchefstroom Central School and M.L Fick as Central completed a close 2-wicket win at the JB Marks Oval on Tuesday, May 19.

Potch Central reached the target of 149 for victory with 8 balls to spare as CJ Clifton (9* from 12 balls) hit the winning runs.

The highest scorer for Central was Atli Mongale, who scored 27 from 26 balls. One of the main concerns for Emmies were their extras, as they conceded 57 in total.

Malan Marais was the star for M.L. Fick taking 2/11 with the ball and also hitting a brilliant 67 from 39 balls. It though was not enough as Central School went over the line with a gutsy team performance.

The standout bowlers for Central were MJ Makatani who took 2/18 and Clifton who picked up 2/23.

It was a special afternoon for both teams who could experienced the thrill of playing cricket on the biggest stage. This was part of the Gimmie-Volkie sportweek buildup.
