President Pretorius played an won a North West u13 rugby league title for the first time in 21 years when their u13A team beat Laerskool Schweizer-Reneke by 36-7 in the D-section final played at Olënpark today (June 9).
The President Pretorius boys had too much firepower for their opponents as they scored some scintillating tries.

The inside centre, Siya Mkhatshwa, had a blinder of a game with a brace of tries. Kgosi Khalanyane, was also terrific at 8. He shrugged off defenders with ease to score two tries of his own. Nkosi Maponya, Isaiah Barends and Retshepile Shopo also put their names on the scoresheet. Shopo was electric at fly-half as he broke the defensive line on numerous occasions.
What makes this victory even more special is that this team only started playing together in the past two years. Hard work from coaches and support from parents has created this special moment for the school.
President Pretorius principal, Vanessa Stewart, was overjoyed at the end of the match as the staff and teachers celebrated with the rugby players and their parents.
“Thank you for making my day. This is special.”
