Matlwang tournament brings hope to the youth

“It’s a calling. I am grateful for everyone’s input in making the tournament a success. I want Matlwang to be busy, nothing more nothing less."

Sport development is a calling for April Malangeni, a former NWU Tawana soccer player and Matwang Village resident.

April is the coach and co-ordinator at La Costa FC, who recently hosted another successful Soccer and Netball Youth Day tournament on June 16 at Matlwang Village

“It’s a calling. I am grateful for everyone’s input in making the tournament a success. I want Matlwang to be busy, nothing more nothing less,” stated April, who formed La Costa FC in 2018.

“Our vision is to develop children from the rural areas into professional and academically stronger people. Our biggest challenge is transport and food for away games as well as training equipment,” added April.

He has a huge love for sports development, but his main reason for coming to Matlwang Village in the first place, was to farm. Sport development though took first priority and is something he is grateful for.

“It’s all about making a difference in young people’s lives. There are no facilities to play, and the money can contribute to building and starting further initiative,” stated April.
